Sono Claudio Madella (come avrei letto nella homepage:) e sono un progettista grafico freelance.
Dal 2002 mi occupo di comunicazione visiva, partendo dalle redazioni di alcuni magazine per poi continuare come art director freelance. Seguo clienti grandi e piccoli, usando la medesima cura per chiunque. L’attenzione al dettaglio e la capacità di integrare offline e online sono le caratteristiche che mi contraddistinguono; la progettualità e la creazione di relazioni sono altre doti che non mancano.
Nel 2008, poi, sono entrato in contatto con la stampa letterpress ed è stato un colpo di fulmine. Con Officina Tipografica Novepunti, sono stati fra i primi a riscoprire i caratteri mobili in Italia. Adesso ho una private press, un laboratorio didattico all’interno della Scuola Superiore d’Arte Applicata del Castello Sforzesco e organizzo, dal 2012, Letterpress Workers International. Con questa attività parallela realizzo poster, libri, cartoline a tiratura limitata e insegno tecniche di stampa e lettering.
My name is Claudio Madella (as you red in the homepage:) and I’m a freelance graphic designer.
I have been working in visual communication since 2002, starting out in the offices of several magazines and then continuing as a freelance art director. I work with large and smalto everyone. Attention to detail and the ability to integrate offline and online are the characteristics that set me apart; planning and relationship building are other skills that I have a lot too.
In 2008, I came into contact with letterpress and it was love at first sight. Officina Tipografica Novepunti was among the first to rediscover movable type in Italy. Now I have a private press, an workshop within the Scuola Superiore d’Arte Applicata del Castello Sforzesco (link Pagina Mastro) and, since 2012, I have been organising Letterpress Workers International. Through this parallel activity, I create posters, books and limited edition postcards and teach printing techniques and lettering.
A short Manifesto
Come designer e stampatore credo che la comunicazione abbia il dovere di migliorare la realtà; la tipografia è uno degli strumenti che uso per fare questo. Le parole sono importanti, per questo mi interessa che siano leggibili e comprensibili, anche quando non lo sembrano.
Quello che mi impegno a fare è renderle visivamente efficaci, quello che spero di ottenere è che colpiscano nel segno.
Tutte quello che faccio è realizzato utilizzando materiali di buona qualità progettati per sprecarne il meno possibile. Nel caso di autoproduzioni è anche venduto a prezzi popolari.
Credo molto nelle comunità e nel mutuo aiuto: oltre a quelle di cui faccio già parte, la porta è sempre aperta ad altre.
As a designer and printer, I believe that communication has a duty to improve reality; typography is one of the tools I use to do this. Words are important, which is why I want them to be legible and understandable, even when they don’t seem to be.
What I strive to do is make them visually effective, and what I hope to achieve is that they hit the mark.
Everything I do is made using good quality materials designed to waste as little as possible. In the case of self-produced items, they are also sold at affordable prices.
I strongly believe in communities and mutual support: in addition to those I am already part of, my door is always open to others.
